Mission Maine 2016 Report
A group of twenty-eight people of various ages from Calvary Church and five people from Grace BFC in Reading served at Blueberry Mountain Bible Camp in western Maine from July 16 to 23. Owned by Child Evangelism Fellowship, this year-round camp and conference center serves the people in the surrounding communities by offering summer camps and winter retreats for children and teens and weekend retreats for adults.
During the day, the group did various work projects at the camp. These projects included replacing carpeting with new flooring, putting siding on a cabin, cleaning out storage areas, exterior and interior painting, and gardening.
In addition to working at the camp, the group tried to be an encouragement to a couple of local churches. On Sunday, they attended the worship service at Carthage Union Church and Lighthouse Christian Church. Then on Monday through Friday evenings, some of the group members traveled to Carthage Union Church to lead a VBS outreach and adult Bible study. Eight young people and about ten adults attended.
On Friday evening, about twenty local teens attended a youth event that the team held at the camp. This event included a Bible lesson, snacks, and group games such as Mission Impossible.
Although the camp staff and the local pastors were appreciative of the group's work, team members felt that they had received an even greater blessing-—the joy of serving and fellowshipping with other believers.
