Carl Spackman, Interim Pastor
On Sunday, April 12, Rev. Carl Spackman brought an encouraging message to the Calvary Church Family based on Romans 8. On Monday, April 13, the Board of Elders agreed unanimously to invite Pastor Spackman to serve as our Interim Preaching Pastor. Carl will begin serving three of four Sundays a month in the pulpit here at Calvary on May 3.
Carl and his wife, Helen, live in Harrisburg and he plans to travel to Coopersburg each Saturday evening and stay until Sunday afternoon. During the Sunday School hour he will be available for prayer, counsel, and interaction with those who would like to meet with him. We are committed to each other for a three month period after which the relationship will be reevaluated. On the Sundays when Pastor Spackman is not here, preaching will be cared for by our own elders and other BFC pastors. We are pleased that Pastor Carl has accepted our invitation to serve and we anticipate great times of worship and fellowship ahead.
Sometimes you may have questions about a passage of scripture, the morning message, or just find the need to talk with the preacher. If you would like to speak with Pastor Spackman, just mention it to him and he'll make arrangements to do so.
Pray for Pastor Spackman as he cares for the pulpit ministry in the weeks ahead. Continue to pray for Pastor Lynskey as he develops plans for relocation and church planting. The Shorbs are making arrangements for a trip to France. Pastor Mark continues his ministry to youth and young adults until May 31. He is currently preparing for several weddings that will take place in June and July. Remember our shepherds as the Lord guides and directs their next steps.
A word of blessing for Calvary Church from Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Our God is an awesome God.
